Established in 1946, the Obedience Dog Training Club of Waterbury, Inc. (ODTCW) has been a steadfast advocate for the training and well-being of dogs and their owners for generations. Located in Oxford, Connecticut, our club is entirely run by passionate volunteers who are dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive environment for canine enthusiasts of all levels. Our journey with your pup often begins in our Puppy class, designed to establish a strong foundation for future training. Owners learn alongside their energetic youngsters, discovering the fundamentals of socialization, basic commands, and how to navigate the exciting world of puppyhood.

For those seeking to refine their dog's manners and everyday behavior, our Beginners Obedience class, also known as Family Manners, provides a gentle introduction to positive reinforcement training techniques. This class focuses on teaching basic commands and addressing common household challenges, resulting in a more well-mannered and obedient companion.

Advanced training programs delve into the intricacies of competition obedience and beyond. Whether your ambition lies in earning the esteemed AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate or pursuing higher levels of competition, our Manners & More class equips you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed. We guide you through the requirements of the CGC program, culminating in a class-administered CGC test.

Stepping Onto the Competitive Field

For those who dream of the thrill of the competition ring, ODTCW provides a pathway to excellence. We offer comprehensive training programs in American Kennel Club (AKC) and Companion Dog Sports Program (CDSP) events, spanning all levels from Beginner to Utility.
