At Follow My Lead Dog Training, we have been helping New York City's dog owners develop an easier and happier relationship with their dogs for over 25 years. Our approach is flexible, as we understand that there is no one way to teach every dog, or to cure every problem. The one constant in all our training is that the experience be a positive one for people and dogs alike. Our trainers are dedicated to providing personalized dog training and puppy training for the Upper West Side, Lincoln Square, Upper East Side, Tribeca, the West Village, and surrounding areas in New York City.

Our trainers are skilled in reward-based dog training methods, which focus on encouraging good behavior rather than punishing bad behavior. We strive to create a supportive environment where owners can learn alongside their dogs, building a strong bond and overcoming any challenges that may arise.

Services

We offer a range of services including group classes and private training sessions. Our private training lessons can be conducted in your home, making it convenient for you and your dog. We specialize in basic manners and problem-solving for puppies and newly adopted dogs, covering topics such as puppy socialization, adapting to city dog life, destructive chewing, potty training, not pulling on leash, coming when called, and not jumping up.

About the Trainer

Phyllis Couvares, our owner and lead trainer, is an accomplished professional dog trainer with over 30 years of experience. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (ADPT). Phyllis has a remarkable ability to teach owners how to overcome the frustrations that sometimes keeps them from fully enjoying their dogs, teaching them how to effectively communicate with and motivate their dogs.
