Our History

Animal Care has been proudly serving the North Shore community for over 40 years. Originally founded as Fairlawn Animal Hospital in the 1950s, Dr. Kenneth Carlson began operating the practice as Animal Care in 1973. Dr. Carlson's dedication to excellent veterinary medicine and his passion for building relationships with his patients and clients set the stage for a legacy of exceptional care. Today, under the leadership of Dr. Megan Cooke, we continue to maintain our founder's commitment to high-quality medicine and caring for the needs of our patients.

Our staff comprises a small, passionate team of individuals who are dedicated to the care of your pet. Meet our team:

• Dr. Megan Cooke, DVM: Our lead veterinarian, Dr. Cooke, is a summa cum laude graduate of Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She is passionate about building relationships with her patients and clients.
• Dr. Kenneth Carlson, DVM (Retired): Our founder, Dr. Carlson, has dedicated his life to veterinary medicine. He is a Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine graduate and has been a pillar of the community for over four decades.
• Our Support Staff:

+ Sarah, Office Manager: Ensures our administrative smooth operation.

+ Taryn and Kaci, Veterinary Technicians: Assist Dr. Cooke with patient care and provide invaluable support.

+ Gloria, Miranda, Will, and Andrea, Kennel Attendants: Take care of our boarding pets with love and attention.
