Helping People Help Animals
Our Mission and History
For nearly 100 years, the Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) has been dedicated to providing a wide range of services to our community, helping people help animals. Our organization has evolved over the years, adapting to the changing needs of our community and the animals we serve. Today, we continue to provide a variety of services, from pet adoptions and medical care to wildlife rehabilitation and education.
Our Services
Whether you are looking to bring a new pet into your family, searching for your lost pet, found a wild animal in need of assistance, or have made the difficult decision to surrender your pet, DCHS is here to help. Our services include:
- Adoption: Meet your new best friend by browsing our adoptable animals, including dogs, cats, and small animals.
- Surrender: If you are unable to care for your pet, we provide resources and support to help you surrender your pet.
- Found a lost animal?: If you have found an injured, ill, or orphaned wild animal, our Wildlife Center is here to guide you through the next steps and determine when help is truly needed.
- Wildlife Rehabilitation: Our Wildlife Center provides care and rehabilitation services for injured and orphaned wildlife, with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats.
Pet Care and Resources
- Microchipping: Microchip your pet to increase the chances of being reunited with them if they ever become lost.
- Dog Training Classes: Enroll in one of our dog training classes, designed to help you and your furry friend build a stronger bond.
- Euthanasia and Cremation: We understand that sometimes euthanasia is necessary, and we provide compassionate and respectful services to make this difficult process easier for you and your pet.
- Community Dog Day: Join us for our Community Dog Day event, promoting socialization and fun for dogs and their owners.
