Gentle Touch Pet Training has been enriching the lives of Central Coast canines and their owners for over two decades. Founded in 1999 by Teah Anders, author of Click 'n Connect: Training your Dog - A Lifelong Journey, our mission is rooted in positive reinforcement and gentle training techniques. We believe in building strong, lasting relationships between dogs and their humans through a collaborative approach to learning.

Our Approach to Training

Our experienced trainers utilize the scientifically validated methods of Clicker Training, a positive reinforcement approach that uses a marker signal and treats to guide dog behavior. This method emphasizes building behavior step-by-step, creating a dependable and responsive companion. Additionally, all of our agility and nose work classes are taught through positive reinforcement, encouraging engagement and enthusiasm in your furry friend.

We offer a comprehensive array of services to suit every need, including:

Group Classes: Learn valuable skills across diverse age groups and skill levels with our Puppy Preschool, Elementary, Advanced, and other specialized classes.

Private Training: Personalized sessions tailor-made to address specific behavioral challenges and goals.

Board & Train: Comprehensive training program for dogs who require more intensive learning or behavioral modification.

Daycare & Grooming: Keep your furry friend active and well-groomed with our daycare and grooming services.

Additional Offerings: We also provide workshops, resources, and online materials to empower you to continue training your dog on your own.

A Mission Beyond Training

Gentle Touch Pet Training is a nonprofit program under the umbrella of the Son Care Foundation, Inc. Our profits support two vital organizations: Alpha Academy, a Christian-based mentoring program, and New Life K9s, which provides service dogs to veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD. By fostering these programs, we create a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities in our region.
