Empowering You and Your Dog to Achieve Greatness Together

At the Spokane Dog Training Club, we have been dedicated to providing top-notch training services to the community for over 50 years. With excellent facilities, committed instructors, and a friendly atmosphere, we offer a wide range of classes designed to cater to the needs of dog owners and their companions. As the only American Kennel Club-sanctioned dog training club in the greater Spokane area, we take pride in our comprehensive curriculum, which takes you and your dog from Home Companion Pet Classes to competition-level training.

Our Integrated Curriculum

Our integrated curriculum is designed to take you and your dog on a journey from Home Companion Pet Classes into and through Obedience, Agility, Scent Work, and Rally. Conformation classes may be offered in Session 1. All dogs entering our facilities must have proof of shots, and most classes meet once a week for about an hour, with a duration of 8 weeks. Our classes are led by experienced instructors and assistants who are committed to positive training methods.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Many of our classes require a dog to have completed an Advanced Home Companion class and passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. This test assesses a dog's good manners and obedience, and is a comprehensive evaluation of responsible pet ownership. If your dog has not completed an Advanced Home Companion class and passed the CGC test, you may be required to take a foundational class before progressing to more advanced training.

Our Classes

We offer a wide range of classes for dogs of all ages and skill levels. From Puppy Classes to Advanced Training, our classes are designed to help you and your dog develop a strong bond, improve your communication, and achieve your training goals. Here are some of the classes we offer:

  • Puppy Classes: Our Puppy Classes are designed for puppies 3-4 months or 4-6 months old, and focus on basic manners, socialization, and obedience.
  • Home Companion: This class is designed for dogs 6 months of age or older and teaches basic obedience skills, manners, and socialization.
  • Advanced Home Companion: This class is open to dogs that have completed a Beginning Home Companion class and prepares dogs for competition-level training.
  • Obedience Classes: We offer Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced, and Utility obedience classes, which focus on preparing dogs for AKC obedience titles.
  • Rally Classes: Our Rally classes are designed for dogs that have completed an Advanced Home Companion class and passed the AKC CGC test, and focus on teaching dogs to follow a course with signs and perform exercises.

Tracking and Scent Work

While we do not offer formal tracking classes, our members are more than happy to mentor and provide guidance to those interested in tracking. In fact, we hold AKC tracking tests and rallies throughout the year. Additionally, our Scent Work classes are designed to teach dogs to use their sense of smell to find specific scents and objects.

Conclusion

At the Spokane Dog Training Club, we are committed to providing a supportive and educational environment for dog owners and their companions. With our comprehensive curriculum, expert instructors, and focus on positive training methods, we are confident that our classes will help you and your dog achieve your training goals. Whether you are a seasoned competitor or just starting out on your training journey, we invite you to join our community and explore the many classes and opportunities we have to offer.
