Our Team

As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), I, Sam Matlick, have dedicated my career to helping dogs and their owners overcome behavioral challenges and achieve a deeper understanding and connection. With years of experience working with shelters, rescue organizations, and privately-owned dogs, I've developed a comprehensive approach to dog training that emphasizes the importance of building strong relationships between dogs and their handlers.

At the heart of our training philosophy is the realization that the bond between dog and handler is the foundation of a happy and harmonious living situation. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both the dog and the handler, we can work together to overcome behavioral challenges and achieve our training goals.

Our Services

At Train My Dog and Me, we offer a range of services designed to meet the unique needs of every dog and their owner. Our services include:

• Initial Consultation: A comprehensive 60-90 minute consultation that lays the groundwork for all future training sessions, covering the dog's history, family situation, and specific needs and goals.
• Private Sessions: One-on-one training sessions tailored to the dog's specific needs and goals, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques and incorporating our well-behaved canine assistants, Doshi, Tahiti, and Cocoa.
• Day Training: Group training sessions that provide socialization and training for dogs in a fun and engaging environment.
• Group Classes: Structured training sessions that focus on specific skills and behaviors, such as obedience, agility, and trick training.

Meet Our Canine Assistants

Tahiti James, a 70-pound Boxer/Lab mix, is our resident demo dog, who has earned multiple titles in canine freestyle, agility, and obedience. Tahiti is a Canine Good Citizen and a Novice Trick dog, and has served as a walking companion for reactive dogs.

Doshi O., a 97-pound Bernese Mountain dog mix, is a calm and well-mannered gentleman who serves as a demo dog for various events. He is a Canine Good Citizen, a Novice Trick Dog, and has earned basic titles in canine freestyle, barnhunt, rally, and obedience.

Cocoa Bean Puppe, a 33-pound Jindo mix, was rescued from a South Korean shelter and has since become a beloved member of our training team. He has earned the AKC Puppy S.T.A.R. and Canine Good Citizen titles, and is working on becoming more comfortable in public.
