Our Story

Critter Sitters In Home Pet Care has been dedicated to providing top-notch in-home pet care services to the Columbus, Ohio area since 1994. Our journey began as a small, part-time pet sitting service, primarily servicing Northwest Columbus. Over the years, we've grown into a full-time, full-service pet sitting service, covering a vast area of the greater Columbus region. Our mission is to become the leader in professional pet sitting in Columbus, Ohio.

Owner Profile

Our company is owned and operated by Dave Todd and Jeff Chaykowski. Dave graduated from Columbus State in 1988 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Jeff is the former co-chairman of the Central Ohio Professional Pet Sitters Network and a former member of their Leadership Committee. We're proud members of Pet Sitters International and have earned our PSI Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting. We're also members of the Central Ohio Professional Pet Sitters Network, ensuring that our team is always up-to-date on the latest industry standards and best practices.

Initial Consultation

During this essential meeting, we get to know you and your pets, discussing their likes and dislikes, daily routine, and any special needs. We gather information about feeding and watering, walking and playtime, medications, and household duties. We complete and sign all necessary forms, and we require two keys for our sitter and one to keep on file in case of an emergency. For first-time clients, we require full payment.

In-Home Pet Sitting

Visits are 30 minutes long and include feeding, watering, exercising, scooping the litterbox, administering medications, and plenty of TLC for your pets, as well as bringing in mail, watering plants, and more.

Dog Walking

Walks are 30 minutes in length and provide your dog with the opportunity to get some exercise and go potty. Perfect for dogs who require daily exercise.

Short Potty Breaks

Visits are 15 minutes long and provide your dog with a short walk and potty break.

Overnights

Sitters will arrive at your home between 9 pm and 10 pm and remain until 7 am or 8 am. Midday visits can be added, but are not included in the overnight cost.

Pet Taxi Service

We can arrange transportation for your pet, if needed.

Rates

All rates are per visit. We do not charge per animal.

Service Area

Proudly serving the greater Columbus, Ohio area, including the following communities: Downtown, Victorian Village, German Village, Grandview, Hilliard, Dublin, Upper Arlington, Clintonville, Westerville, Worthington, New Albany, Gahanna, and about everything in between!

Vaccinations

All pets must be currently vaccinated. If, in the unlikely event, our sitter is bitten or exposed to a disease or ailment received from a client's animal, it will be the client's responsibility to pay all costs and damages incurred by the victim.

Emergency Veterinary Care

Should medical attention be necessary, our sitter is authorized to seek emergency veterinary care. As the client, you release our sitter from all liabilities related to transportation, treatment, and expense.

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather or natural disaster, our sitter is entrusted to use their best judgment in caring for your pets and home.

Cancellation Policy

We reserve the right to charge for visits cancelled without at least 24 hours' notice, especially during peak times like holidays.

Limitations

We will do our best to provide excellent care for both your pet(s) and your home. However, due to the unpredictable nature of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for any extraordinary or unusual mishaps, such as bitings, furniture damage, accidental death, or complications in administering medications.
