At Beckman's Dog Training, we are dedicated to providing a unique and effective approach to dog training. Our founders, Joel and Liz Beckman, have a rare background in training Killer Whales, Dolphins, and other exotic animals. This experience has shaped our dog training philosophy, system, and approach, which we are passionate about sharing with the dog training community.

Our Unique Training System

Our system is built on positive reinforcement and balanced training. We use treats for basic obedience behaviors, but our goal is to fade out the treats as quickly as possible and replace them with a "release" as reinforcement. We also use built-in reinforcement for behaviors such as waiting at doors, loose leash walking, and jumping. We believe that many dog trainers have become too reliant on treats and are committed to achieving a balanced approach.

We also want to emphasize that we have never and will never use shock collars or prong collars. Our trainers have seen these methods cause random, sporadic, and intense aggression, and we understand the difficulties of extinguishing these behaviors. Instead, we focus on positive reinforcement and consistent lifelong training.

Our Trainers

Our trainers are the most experienced positive reinforcement team in the country. Each trainer has been mentored by Joel Beckman and has worked with many different species of animals, including Killer Whales, Dolphins, big cats, birds of prey, etc. This gives them a training base and knowledge of reactivity and aggression like no other.

Beckman's Dog Training is the only full-service dog training company to offer so many programs to fit your busy life and budget. This includes our famous Board & Train program, private in-home training, and private training at our facility, as well as our Feisty Fido programs. Our training programs are designed to help your dog reach their full potential and live peacefully with you.
