Our Story

For over thirty years, Bienville Animal Medical Center has been a trusted pillar of the Ocean Springs, Mississippi community, providing compassionate and comprehensive veterinary care to our feline and canine companions.

Established in 1984, Bienville Animal Medical Center began its journey when Dr. Chris Duke, became the proud owner of the animal hospital previously owned by Dr. Broussard. With a vision of creating a modern, state-of-the-art facility, Dr. Duke made significant expansions to the original building, ultimately renaming it Bienville Animal Hospital. The commitment to growth continued in 1990 with the acquisition of adjacent property. This allowed for the construction of a 4,700 square foot addition to the existing 1,900 square foot clinic, practically doubling the capacity of the facility. This remarkable growth resulted in the reinvention of Bienville Animal Hospital as Bienville Animal Medical Center in 1993, a name that truly reflected the hospital's expanded scope and dedication to providing cutting-edge veterinary care. This new facility was a testament to Dr. Duke's commitment to excellence and was recognized by the esteemed trade publication Veterinary Economics with a merit award in 1995.

Through the years, Bienville Animal Medical Center has grown into a thriving practice, extending its reach to communities beyond Ocean Springs, including Biloxi, Vancleave, and Gautier. The practice has been deeply affected by the departures of long-time veterinarian Dr. Lavigne and technician Vanna Lavigne after 14 and 10 years of remarkable service, respectively. Their dedication and expertise are dearly missed by both the team and the many clients they cared for.
