With over 35 years of experience in the industry, our family-owned business has been a trusted name in dog care and training. Since 1987, we have been serving the West Michigan area with a commitment to providing exceptional care and attention to every furry family member that walks through our doors.

Our Story

Kim's K-9 was founded by Kim Steffes in 1987, starting from her home in Wayland, Michigan. In 2021, Kim began her transition to retirement, and Martha Wiltse and her family took over the business. Kim's K-9 was one of the first boarding facilities in the Grand Rapids area and continues to provide uniquely tailored dog training and daycare excellence.

Meet the Team

Martha Wiltse, Owner and Certified Professional Dog Trainer: Martha has been working with dogs since she was 16 years old. She holds a BA in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and is certified as a Professional Dog Trainer by the IACP and an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen testing. Martha is passionate about working with dogs and their people and is always looking for ways to improve her skills.

Jolene, Assistant Kennel Lead: Jolene has a big heart and is a calmness in the storm. She has big aspirations to go into the Veterinary field and is excited to learn everything she can about dogs.

Spencer, Senior Kennel Lead: Spencer is a calm and stable presence and takes pride in his work.
